Cleanaway, a subsidiary company of Transpacific Industries Group, has signed a 10-year lease with Walker Corporation for a purpose built recyclable waste transfer station at Monaro Industrial Park. The facility valued at $5.5 million will include a 4,200sqm warehouse and 225sqm office, purpose built by Richard Crookes Constructions.
Construction of the facility commenced in August 2013, accelerated by an already established portal frame and slab retained during subdivision works conducted by Walker Corporation from a pre-existing sawmill formally located on site. Project completion is set for 14 October 2013.
The new specialist recyclable waste transfer station will feature full drive-around access, roller shutter doors on three sides, secure hardstand, B-double access and a custom wash bay. Cleanaway will use the site for the operation of a waste transport depot servicing Canberra and the greater Australian Capital Territory when they relocate to Monaro from their current location at Alderson Place.
Mr Ross Edwards, Transpacific General Manager Property, said Cleanaway had been delivering waste management services in the Canberra region for over 25 years.
“We’re looking forward to the opening of our new facility at Monaro Industrial Park, which is an investment in the Canberra market. Monaro offers immediate access to Canberra’s major road networks so that Cleanaway can continue to deliver the level of service that Canberra’s homes and businesses have come to rely on from us.
“The new facility will provide processing of recyclable waste such as cardboard, white paper and polystyrene, in addition to secure document destruction. Fleet maintenance, truck washing and waste container refurbishment will also be undertaken at the new site,” Mr Edwards said.
Executive Chairman of Walker Corporation Mr Lang Walker said “We are proud to be able to offer Cleanaway with a state-of-the-art recycling facility that meets all their requirements at Monaro.”
“The estate continues to attract quality clients looking for modern facilities at reasonable rates. Cleanaway joins the likes of Allied Pickfords, Grace Records Management and Toll Ipec among others” Mr. Walker said.
In addition to the current construction of Cleanaway’s facility, seven 120 sqm architecturally designed strata units with mezzanine offices are being built at Monaro Industrial Park. These stand-alone industrial zoned units will be available for sale or lease in the fourth quarter of 2013.
