Leading integrated logistics service provider Toll Group is the latest company to open its doors at Walker Corporation’s Monaro Industrial Park in Hume.
Toll’s state-of-the-art $10 million facility was completed this week for leading express parcel service, Toll IPEC, within five months. Qanstruct constructed the new purpose-built 4,640sqm transport depot on behalf of Walker Corporation on a 17,000sqm block after Toll agreed terms for the 10-year lease in February this year.
The new transport depot at Monaro is double the size of Toll IPEC’s existing facility in Fyshwick and features full drive around and B-Double access which will assist in streamlining operations. The depot is planned to become the key facility for Toll IPEC in Canberra, and will be used for timely metropolitan, regional or capital city deliveries.
Executive Chairman of Walker Corporation, Lang Walker, welcomed Toll to Monaro Industrial Park and said “the company is a great addition to our list of blue-chip tenants already at the estate and we are negotiating with other major companies to relocate their operations to Monaro.
“The facility we have built for Toll IPEC is designed with the company’s operational requirements and truck movements in mind, maximizing its operational efficiencies seven days a week.
With the Caltex diesel stop now in operation at the estate and the proximity to key freight routes, Monaro is becoming a new industrial hub in Canberra for logistics businesses”, he added.
Walker Corporation has completed a number of facilities for Toll Group in the past, the latest being in 2010 for Toll NQX at Vicinity Industrial Base – Walker’s 100 hectare industrial estate in Adelaide. Work continues on another Toll facility at Monaro for Toll Global Logistics – Customised Solutions, which is due for completion in December.
Land at Monaro Industrial Park is available for sale or lease, with land parcels from 2,000sqm to 25,000sqm.
